A note from Nila Moore w/Foothills Arena

I would like to thank everyone for your support last year. It was a hard year for us at the Foothills, but with all the support I got from everyone we made it thru. We have several more events in the works that I will be adding.
We are in the process of finalizing the plans to add an aqua treadmill for the horses. I would really like to hear some feedback. I don't really know how bit of a barn to build because I don't know how many horses I would have a month. Is there any interest in Arkansas?
Also, the Team Roping in September, we will be giving away a Crew Cab Ford Power Stroke to high point roper of #10, 4 saddles, 10 buckles, 20 knives, and lots of Cash.
For more information call 580-653-2232 or 580-653-2233
THANK YOU!

University of the Ozarks

Environmental attorney and activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and renowned conservationist Julia "Butterfly" Hill will highlight a diverse group of speakers and entertainers who will visit U of O during the upcoming academic year as part of the 2006-2007 Walton Arts & Ideas Series.
The theme will be "Blue and Green: A Look at Nature and the Environment" and will include six events throughout the academic year.
Kennedy, the third of 11 children born to Ethel Kennedy and the late U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, will speak at Ozarks on April 26, 2007.
Hill, who will visit Ozarks on September 26, 2006, gained world-wide fame as an environmentalist and activist in the late 1990's after spending 738 days living in the canopy of a 600-year-old, 180-foot California Coast Redwood tree to prevent the destruction of the tree and the surrounding forest. In 1999, Hill and other activists founded the organization Circle of Life Foundation.
On November 2, 2006, The Children of the World International Children's Choir will perform at U of O.
On December 10, 2006, Arkansas wilderness photographer and author Tim Emst will visit the university. On Feb. 22, 2007, John Two-Hawks, an American-Indian musician and author, will perform at Ozarks. And, on March 8, 2007, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, in its 41st season, will present a concert on campus.
All of the events will be held in the University's Walton Fine Arts Center. Individual ticket prices range from $5 to $15, depending on the event. A season ticket for all six events is $48 for the general public or $36 for seniors and youth. For more information on the 2006-2007 Walton Series or to order tickets, please contact Director Ginny Sain at 479-979-1346.

4th Annual Johnson County Fire Safety Awareness Parade and Kidsfest Safety Fair

It is almost that time again and it will be here before you know it! Plans are underway for the 4th Annual Johnson County Fire Safety Awareness Parade and Kidsfest Safety Fair sponsored by the Johnson County Fire Chiefs Association. Since its inception, attendance has gradually risen (last year our attendance quadrupled over the previous year) and they would love to have area businesses and organizations participate to make the even bigger and better than previous years.
Fire Departments from Johnson, Franklin and Logan counties, along with the Arkansas
Forestry Commission, the US Forest Service and other county emergency agencies will be participating in the Fourth Annual Fire Safety Awareness Parade to be held in Clarksville. The parade, held on October 7th, will officially kick off Fire Prevention Week, October 8-1 4. The theme for this year's Fire Prevention Week is "Prevent Cooking Fires, Watch What You Heat".
The parade will start at 10 A.M. and will travel west from Main Street and Rogers Street to Main Street and Crawford Street. Fire trucks will then go to the Marvin Vinson Center where they will be parked. People will have the opportunity to see the trucks up close and meet the firefighters.
If your business or organization is interested in having a fire prevention-related float in the parade or sponsoring a fire prevention float contest, please contact Dayna Hilton at 754-8652 or daynark@gmail.com.
"Kidsfest Safety Fair" will be held at the Marvin Vinson Center from 11 A.M. until 2
P.M., immediately following the parade. The purpose of the safety fair is to promote not only fire safety, but all forms of safety through fun interactive activities. There will be activities by various agencies in Johnson County such as Johnson County Fire Departments hosting a kid's mini-fighter challenge, puppet shows, Spin the Wheel of Fire Safety contest, Smoke Alarm guess contest, drafting demonstration, firefighter training information, and a display of Fire Prevention Week Contest by area school children. The Fire Safety House will be in operation and there will be appearances by Sparky the firedog, Sparkles, Freddie the Firetruck and Johnson County RFD #1 Fire Corps members. Other participants will include local law enforcement and EMS, health related agencies, among many others.
If your business or organization would like to sponsor a safety-related booth or activity, they would love to have you participate. If you need help with ideas, they will be glad to help you with that as well! They have lots of them!
There is much planning that goes into the day long event, which is free and open to the public. If you would like to help in the planning process or volunteer your time to help that day, please join them!
Most of all, they need your help in spreading the word about the day's festivities. If you are interested in helping promote the event or promote fire safety by including fire safety messages in your advertising during the month of October, we would greatly appreciate it. We will be happy to help you find appropriate fire safety messages for your advertising.
Please feel free to contact Dayna at anytime at 754-8652 or daynark@gmail.com . Together, we will help keep everyone in Johnson County fire safe
!
