class this month.
Clarksville has fifteen
students, Lamar has
nineteen students, Oark
and Westside each have

Relay
For
Life
Join
us at the 8th Annual
American Cancer Society
Johnson County Relay for
Life at the Clarksville
Metheny Field from noon
till midnight on
Saturday, May 8th. The
Relay for Life is a
rally together in a
celebration of life for
the survivors, a
memorial for a loved
ones lost and a chance
to join forces in a
powerful fight.
With
the help of our
corporate sponsors,
teams and your community
support, we can make a
difference. This brings
the community together
in a moving and fun
family oriented
atmosphere. You don't
have to be a part of a
group or team, just come
out and walk, bring your
lawn chairs or sit in
the grandstands. Watch
and visit with others,
participate in the games
and activities, eat some
of the delicious foods,
enjoy the entertainment,
purchase a luminary and
you have the opportunity
to make a donation if
you would like.
Teams
will kick off the event
beginning at noon with
an Olympic style
opening, the Celebration
of Life Survivors
Recognition Lap will be
at 7 p.m. to honor their
courage and
determination. The
Luminary Ceremony will
begin at 9 p.m. reading
the names of those
cancer survivors, those
battling cancer and
those we have lost to
this disease. This is a
time to celebrate life
and show that those lost
will never be forgotten.

The
Foothills Firecrackers
Pictured
left is a group of young people who will make you
proud to say you know them. They are "The Foothills
Firecrackers Quadrille Team." The Firecrackers Team
is made up of 22 young people ranging from the age
of 12 to 19 who come from all over Johnson County.
Their home arena is The Foothills Arena north of
Clarksville on Highway 103. Within a very short
time, caller Wayne Warren has taught the
Firecrackers difficult equine drills and they have
become a polished drill team. They use their equine
skills to proudly display their Christian heritage
and their patriotism for our country. They opened
their season at the ARA Rodeo and Little Britches
Rodeo and have shown off their equine abilities at
the Fayetteville Equine Horse Festival in late
March. If you would like to have them perform at
your event, contact Cheryl Holland at 479-754-8215
or Marla Morris at 479-292-0379. Also, if you or
your company would like to donate to this fine
group of young people in their effort to represent
Arkansas and Johnson County at the National Little
Britches Rodeo Finals in Colorado, you may contact
Diana Kruger at 479-292-0321 or Marla Morris. All
help will be greatly appreciated. Members are:
Gaige Anderson, Joshua Conley, Chris Cowell, Megan
Cowell, Kelsey Curvin, Whitney Davidson, Brentley
Davis, Terry DeWinter , Brittney Einert, Andrew
Estep, Cody Graham, Brandi Hopkins, D. J. Hunt ,
Alishia Karr, Tiffany Kendall, Amber Layden,
Allison Seely, Clinton Seely, Hallie Smith, Sarah
Smith, Vanessa Taylor, Katie Tipton, and Rachel
Troyer.
