HOUSE BILL 1069
House bill 1069 was signed into law last week. Act 99- creating an Arkansas Long Term Care Partnership Program in the state. The central point of this law is that it will protect assets of those individuals from the Medicaid "spend down for qualifications for benefits" if they have Long Term Care Insurance. It will provide dollar for dollar asset protection.
An example today if you have no LTC insurance - if you require in-home care or assisted living care than Medicaid requires that you spend down your assets to $2,000.00 before you are eligible for benefits. This means that you must spend your IRA's, 401K's, savings and other assets before you are eligible.
If you have LTC Insurance and the total coverage of your policy is $250,000.00 if you have assets greater than that, but at least you are protecting some of the assets that you have accumulated over the years.
The LTC plans available through the Chamber Alliance Program (CAP) will offer the business owners benefits not available outside of the Chamber. This is another tangible benefit of belonging to your local Chamber.
