Congressman John Boozman recently presented a check to Johnson County RFD #1 in Clarksville. RFD #1 was successful in writing and obtaining a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Fire Prevention and Safety Grant for $23,464. This funding will enable the department to enhance their fire and life safety education programming and activities for the next year.
Since receiving funding annually for the past four years, the department's Fire Safety Team has reached over 50 million people nationwide and Congressman Boozman has been a key supported of the department's fire safety efforts.
After the check presentation, Congressman Boozman was given a tour of the fire station and shown the various prevention items that previous grants have funded, including the fire safety house, fire prevention vehicle and safety room. Boozman followed up his visit by taking a ride in Engine 1, the department's latest apparatus donated by the Baystate F.O.O.L.S. (Massachusetts). Boozman was instrumental in helping with the Baystate Express project.
