musical production of "Keep on the Sunny Side
The Songs of the Carter Family" at 2pm, Sunday,
January 16, in the Walton Fine Arts Center on

Presented by the Barter Theatre of Virginia, the

Alvin Carter, his wife Sara and their sister-in-

become the most influentail group in country
music history. From their landmark first
recording session in Brstol, Tenn., in 1927, to
their signings with Victor, ARC and Decca
records, through the Great Depression, and their
final retirement in 1952, "Keep the Sunny Side"
brings to liffe the drama, music, laughter, and
love of the first family of country music. They
would record more than 250 songs, leaving a
body of work that helped shape modern country
music.
