VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED
In
2000 we started the Arkansas Scholars
Program to aid in the education of
students entering the 8th and 9th grades.
We are 1 in approximately 62 counties that
offer this program to our young adults in
the State.
This
program requires volunteers to go into
each school and present about a 40 min
program. Program requirements include
curriculum, grades, attendance and
commitment.
Young
adults look up to all our leader in the
community. If you can donate a minimum of
2 hours a year, we would greatly
appreciate it.
Please
call (754-2340) or stop by the Chamber
office for more
information.
As always, thank you for your
support.

Discover Ozarks
Saturday, October 20, 2007
Preview day and you're invited!
On preview day you can get a first-hand look at
what it's like to be a student at Ozarks. You'll be
able to:
" Meet current Ozarks students and other
prospective students
" Tour campus
" Attend a sample class
" Eat lunch with faculty members and athletic
coaches
" ...and much more!
The day will end in true Ozarks' style with a
picnic hosted by our President, Dr. Rick Niece, and
his wife Sherée, at their home. Without a
doubt, this is the best way to Discover Ozarks!
To reserve your place at Discover Ozarks preview
day, fill out the online registration form or print
the registration form and mail it to the Office of
Admission. There is a $10 per student
non-refundable registration fee.

U of O's
enrollment largest since 2003
The University of the Ozarks has announced a 3.4
percent increase in its 2007 Fall Semester
enrollment over last year's figures.
The university's enrollment of 643 students is the
largest since 2003 and a 21-student increase over
2006 Fall Semester figures. The 2007 enrollment
includes a full-time equivalent (FTE) headcount of
612 and 178 first-time freshmen, an 8 percent
increase over 2006.
"We are extremely pleased with our increase in
enrollment and the quality of students we accepted
at Ozarks this year," said U of O President Dr.
Rick Niece. "Over the past two years, we developed
several different recruitment and marketing
strategies, and our growing numbers indicate our
success. As we continue to enhance our academic
reputation locally, regionally, and nationally,
more students want the opportunity to experience an
Ozarks' education."

University
Theatre to present 'Fiction'

The University of the Ozarks Theatre Department
will present its first production of the 2007-2008
academic year, 'Fiction,' at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and
Oct. 13 in the Walton Fine Arts Center.
The play is open to the public. General admission
is $8 and for senior citizens is $6.
Written by Steven Dietz, Fiction is the story of
two authors, Linda and Michael Waterman, who are
successful writers and happily married to one
another. They thrive on the give and take of their
unusually honest and caring relationship. However,
when they decide to share their diaries with one
another, the boundaries between past and present,
fact and fiction, trust and betrayal, begin to
break down. As it turns out, no life is an open
book.
The Associated Press called Fiction "a work of
uncommon insight --- an adult, unsparing and yet
often witty look at the intimate relationship
between a man and a woman during a time of
crisis."
The director is Theatre Professor Pat Farmer and
the production design and technical director is
Theatre professor Bruce B. Brown. Stage manager is
Phillip Perez, graphic designer is Erin Fuller and
the sound designer is Grace Anne Harnish. The cast
includes Leah Short as Linda Waterman, Andrew
Charles Heim as Michael Waterman and Annie Mitchell
as Abby Drake. Understudies are Fuller, Josh Tarvin
and Jenava Moreau.
The crew includes Lacey Kennedy as light board
operator; Harnish as sound board operator; Catalina
Ruiz, Christopher Cunningham and Kennedy as
wardrobe crew; Fuller, Tarvin, Danielle Stover,
Cunningham, Moreau, Kristina Davenport, Houston
Hall, Rebecca Arnold, Jeff Haynes, Rachelle Prince,
Colin Johnson and Martin Morales as stage crew.
For more information about the play, please call
979-1349.
