Hassle Free Holiday Hosting
This hands on course will cover menu
planning, food preparation, and table
décor. The $20 fee includes
instruction, menu planner, shopping list,
preparation schedule, table décor,
and a gourmet meal prepared by the
participants. Mandy Myers will lead this
workshop and was recently a finalist in
the national Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest
held in California. Class runs from
9am-1pm.
Saturday-October 9
Making Poetry from Your
Memories
Ben Myers, professor of English at U
of O, will lead this one day class. This
class which runs from 2pm-5pm costs $15,
and will help people turn their life
experiences into poetry to share with
others. Topics that will be covered
include, putting your thoughts into a
rhythm, finding the "right" word, using
metaphor to explain the unexplainable, and
how to find a publisher.
Tuesdays- October & November
Understanding Contemporary
Islam
Classes will be led by visiting Muslim
scholar Dr. Izzud-Din Musa. The classes,
which are free and open to everyone, will
address the diversity of Muslim practices
and attitudes toward the West. The classes
will run from 7 pm-8pm on October 19 and
26 and on November 2, 9, 16, and 23. The
classes will be structured so that people
can attend either a few or all of
them.

Baldor's
Sales Rise
Hurricanes
have caused a surge in the generator
business and that's jump starting an
already strong Arkansas company's bottom
line. Fort Smith-based owner of Baldor,
Clarksville makes large and small
generators sold worldwide. Hurricanes such
as Charley, Frances, and Ivan have
increased sales by more than 1,000
generators over the past six weeks adding
an extra $1 million to Baldor's sales
figures.
